Letter to “Stars and Stripes”

The editorial “Kansas and Darwin: Evolving Together” (2/21/07) espouses the official dogma that science has no place for intelligent design. But this defies simple logic: the exquisite structure, precision and beauty in our universe and all life have either intelligent design and purpose or no design and purpose at all. Which is more reasonable?

Evolution cannot explain the unwavering perfection of light, gravity, and the nuclear forces. Nor can it explain how a universe of a hundred billion galaxies erupted from an infinitesimal point 13.7 billion years ago and expanded with absolute precision. Any deviation greater than 10(-60) and our solar system wouldn’t exist!

But that is child’s play compared to the impossibility of random chemical interactions producing a single living cell. Each cell has a nucleus with incredibly complex DNA and RNA, endoplasmic reticula, ribosomes and tubules, a golgi complex, mitochondria, lysosomes, microfilaments, cilia and flagella, a plasma membrane and other biochemical systems which must all fit and work together for the cell to survive! Scientists and laboratories could never construct a living cell out of organic chemicals; but you ask us to believe that a chemical soup did this by accident?

In effect, our science dogma foolishly asserts that darkness, death, chaos and cosmic stupidity are the foundations of light, life, order and … science.

White House Visits

I had a great visit with President Bush at the White House on Feb. 28. In God’s providence, my prearranged seat was next to Jill Boyce (see below). During our roundtable meeting about troop support, we were able to remind the President that we’re praying for him. Jill was even able to present a Psalm 91 Bandana to the President, and a staffer later gave him a copy of the So Help Me God book I wrote about the military oath. God was so good to open up these doors to encourage our president. -- CH, CPT Brian Bohlman, Air Nat’l Guard

I secretly prayed several years ago for a chance to meet our President, George W. Bush – to tell him I am praying for him and standing with him – and just to shake his hand. That prayer was answered. I was invited to the White House, along with a group of other non-profit members of America Supports You, to meet President Bush and to share with him what we do for the military and their families. – Jill Boyce, “Bandana Lady”

A Chaplain Candidate

The young adults have been studying the Bible and showing progress in ministering with other young adults of the same age group. I was proud and rejoiced in the Lord when they announced that they are willing to plan a prayer breakfast. I pray that the Lord continues to minister to their hearts as they faithfully believe and serve Him.

I just completed Phase I of CHBOLC (Chaplain Basic Officer Leadership Course) at Ft Jackson, SC. It was a blessing sharing some time with brothers and sisters of the Christian faith as we are all eager to save the men and women who proudly serve and defend our country. -- 2LT Ludovic Foyou, Fayetteville, NC

A Marine Reports In

Things are going well here at Camp LeJuene. I am still serving at the School of Infantry East. I am Project Officer for our PDTC (chaplain training) event.

The Deputy Chief of Chaplains (assigned to chaplains serving with the Marines) will be attending. I am very busy but am not just spinning my wheels. Many young Marines are making a commitment to Jesus Christ, and many who are already in the faith are being strengthened by the Holy Spirit. I had planned on attending the CFGC annual conference in Feb. but had to go TAD to a training event as directed by the command chaplain of MCT LeJuene. My prayer is that all is well at CFGC.

I just want to praise the Lord for all of you at CFGC. You’re doing a wonderful ministry. My prayer goes out to you, Jim, for your health. May the Lord bless you (Prov. 3:5-6; Romans 2:28).

I have been enjoying the ministry at the Redstone Arsenal, but God is sending us to Germany again this summer. We will be going to Scheinfurt, 2BCT 1ID. Please pray for us, our soldiers and their family members. -- CH (MAJ) John Chun

A Correctional Volunteer

Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the extra last minute effort that you put forth for me, especially on such short notice. I really enjoyed the Conference, and I have since spoken to anyone that will listen about some of the speakers and topics. I am amazed at how much valuable information was given just Friday afternoon.

I was praising the Lord for holding back the rain storms until I was safe in my driveway. I had prayed and asked for favor because I had planned on coming down, but as the day approached, the weather reports began to sound really bad. Isn’t God good? He loves to give his kids favor when we ask in faith. -- Rev. Sharon Carpenter,Gainesville, TX

For these be the days of vengeance, and all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
