Hosea & Marisa Amos

The former replacement for Jim Ammerman did not share the same vision for CFGC, and he resigned; is no longer even a Chaplain of CFGC.

Hosea Amos, who has been the Administrative Officer for the past four years, and was planning to retire the end of May ’07, has consented to remain here. He has been promoted to Director/Endorser and so recorded with the Pentagon.

Known to the Ammermans for 20+ years, he is a loyal, mature, effective and efficient Servant of Jesus. (Jim Ammerman remains as CFGC President and Founder.) With the blessing of our Lord Jesus, CFGC has a secure and dynamic future ahead – until He Comes!

Baptism at Sather Air Force Base, Iraq

In Acts chapter 8 we read the story about Phillip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch while traveling on the desert road to Gaza. After receiving the Good News about Jesus Christ, they came to some water. The Ethiopian then says to Phillip, “Look, here is water why shouldn’t I be baptized?” (Acts 8: 36) NIV. Right there in the desert, they found water and then entered into this important act of discipleship.

At Sather AB in Iraq, in our desert location, I began AEF 3-4 preaching from this text. The message was designed to inspire people to share their faith. As airmen took it to heart and to others on the base, God brought a number of volunteers to our ministry teams in the chapel. One of these young men was an Airman who served as a guitarist on our worship team and as a part of our drama team. One day in early November, he asked for some of my time and shared with me how he recently accepted Christ, just before our deployment, and how that chapel ministry greatly inspired his walk with the Lord.

Just before we closed our time, he said, “Chaplain, I’ve never been baptized. Would it be possible for you to baptize me here?” Having already performed a previous baptism I assured him that I could, and I reminded him of the same words that the Ethiopian said to Phillip when they were in their desert. As we discussed a date, he asked, “Could we do it this Sunday?” “Is there a particular reason?” I asked. He said, “This Sunday is my 21st birthday. I’d like that day to be really special.” The Ethiopian’s words again rang out in me, “Here is water, why shouldn’t I be baptized?”

We prepared for the baptism that Sunday evening and at 0900 got word that we’d be required to be in Uniform Posture 2 for 24 hours. We would be required to wear our IBA throughout the evening. The words, “Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” began to take on a new twist. But upon consulting with my Group chaplain and asking the Airman his feelings about it, we felt that this was too good an opportunity to pass up. I was willing if he was willing. So after that evening’s contemporary service, a crowd of about 40 people gathered around our emergency water supply in “battle rattle.” I shared with the crowd once more these words of the Ethiopian. The Airman and I went down in the water wearing protective vests, and I wearing the Kevlar helmet.

When we came up out of the water, it was about as cold as the water was (55 degrees). But we were quickly met with the warmth of the gathered community that have loved and supported the Airman in his new found faith. Providentially, I believe, this young man and I are stationed at the same CONUS base, so I look forward to continued moments of discipleship and revisiting the joy of fulfilling the Scripture, “Why shouldn’t I be baptized?”

Monthly Report

Prayer Requests:

• Thanks for your prayers. I returned safely after being gone for six months.
• That I quickly adjust to the routine here at the home station. Many things have changed in the chapel (that I don’t agree with) and I need God’s help and wisdom as we move ahead in His plan.
• Please pray that God “gives me favor with God and man” – my supervisors, my commanders, my peers and those whom I supervise.

Professions of Faith: 1
Ministry in the last month:
I returned from six months overseas, having completed one of the most fulfilling ministry experiences in my chaplain career to date. Thank you for your continued prayers for me. Many times I have known the presence and guidance of the Father, and it is because you are praying. God gave favor with those in authority over me, with those in the congregations and with my peers. I felt I was operating in the gifts He has given me, and most of all I felt that what I was doing was making an impact ion people’s lives, both for the present and for eternity. I appreciate all of you.
I can think of many times that God made me look absolutely brilliant: in the counseling office when people would give me situations I’d never even thought to consider, when advising commanders on issues; when traveling in combat situations; in one-on-one conversations when suddenly the conversation led to an opening to discuss spiritual matters; when encountered with personal family problems; when I had to correct one of my staff members for slacking off and insub-ordination; when providing leadership to chaplains and teams that had little reason to accept my leadership; when adjusting to multiple unfamiliar situations; and a myriad of other situations. It certainly is the presence of the Holy Spirit. Though I cannot discuss specifics, I KNOW the Holy Spirit was there guiding, advising, and counseling; giving direction and help when I had no other person to consult.

So, praise the Lord that I returned safely with all my limbs and digits. God certainly is good! Thank you so much for your love and concern. To God be all honor and praise!

Bill Federer’s American Minute

-- James Madison –

Called the “Chief Architect of the Constitution,” he wrote many of the Federalist Papers, which helped convince States to ratify the Constitution. He introduced the First Amendment in the first session of Congress. This was James Madison, born March 16, 1751.

During the War of 1812, he proclaimed two National Days of Prayer. When the British marched on Washington, DC, citizens evacuated, along wit President and Dolly Madison. As the British burned the Capitol, White House, and public buildings, August 25, 1814, dark clouds rolled in and a tornado sent debris flying, blew off roofs and knocked over chimneys on the British. Two weeks after the War ended, Madison proclaimed a National Day of Thanksgiving & Devout Acknowledgement to Almighty God, March 4, 1815.

A Great Move Of God

One of our own CFGC Air Force Reserve Chaplains, who led morning devotions in our recent Chaplains Conference.. Pastor G.A. Stanfield, a main speaker at the Conference, invited Delores to come to his Mt. Zion Church in East Texas on Sunday 11 March.

She prayed, fasted and the Lord showed up! Five (5) hours later the great move of God subsided! Every one, each and every one, including the Pastor and the Ammer-mans, had received personal prayer and a touch from the Lord! What a morning! Thank you Jesus!

Defining Statement

In 1982-84, when the Ammermans were praying about starting what is now Chaplaincy of Full Gospel Churches, Jim asked the Lord, “What should be the defining statement for CFGC?”

While on the mission field overseas, at 3:00 AM, the answer came: “Work with anyone who believes “Jesus is Savior and Lord, and signs and wonders are still for today by the Holy Spirit!”

We are still reaching out to those of ‘like precious faith.’ Only God knows the size of the harvest He has produced and recorded in Heaven!

So many have inquired and are inquiring as to the health and well-being of the Ammermans. This photo, taken earlier this month, shows that they are well and strong! Jim’s kidneys, while functioning at a sub-par level, cause no pain, discomfort or any slowdown whatsoever in his activities or work. (The MD’s cannot understand, i.e., not even any swelling of the ankles!) Much prayer has gone and is going up. Laboratory tests will determine the future: if and when God does a miracle healing, or a transplant in April. Four donors are standing by! PTL!
